Sequence Master: memory training in the browser
Sequence Master is a working-memory game in the Simon tradition. A sequence of illuminated pads plays back, then you reproduce it in order. Every cleared level makes the next sequence one pad longer, so the challenge grows without changing the rules.
Easy uses four pads and three mistakes, Medium five pads and two mistakes, and Hard six pads with only one mistake allowed. The playback gets faster on higher difficulties. A full run stays short enough for a coffee break.
The game supports a mouse, touch and the number keys 1–6. Tab focus and Enter also work on every pad. If you switch tabs while watching a sequence, the round pauses and replays when you return.
How to play
- Watch the coloured pads light up, one at a time.
- Repeat the sequence by tapping the pads or pressing keys 1–6.
- Each cleared level adds one more pad. Your difficulty sets the pads and mistakes allowed.
- Clear the final level for a perfect run, or keep going until you run out of mistakes.
Tips
- Group the pads into short chunks instead of trying to hold the whole sequence at once.
- Say the pad numbers silently as they light up; the rhythm is easier to remember than colours alone.
- On Hard, accuracy matters more than speed — one wrong pad ends the run.
Sequence Master FAQ
Is Sequence Master a memory test?
Yes. It measures working memory: how many ordered items you can hold and reproduce. Scores improve with practice, especially if you chunk the sequence.
Can I use the keyboard?
Yes. Press 1–6 to hit the matching pad. Tab and Enter also work, and input is locked while the sequence is playing.
How is my personal best calculated?
Your best displayed score is kept for the game. Every result also records XP, accuracy and the level you reached in recent history.
