About Focus Grid

Focus Grid: focus training in the browser

Focus Grid is a Schulte-style attention exercise. The numbers are scattered, and the only task is to find them in order. The simple rule leaves no place to hide: your eyes have to search, your hand has to follow, and the clock keeps the pace honest.

Easy uses a 5×5 board with no time limit. Medium moves to 6×6 with a two-minute clock. Hard keeps 6×6, shortens the clock to 90 seconds, and reshuffles only the unfinished tiles every six correct finds, so memorising positions will not carry you through.

Mistakes are counted, and the clock pauses when you switch tabs. The results screen reports cleared tiles, time, mistakes, accuracy and score, so a slower clean run can be compared fairly with a faster scrappy one.

How to play

  1. Find the numbers in ascending order, starting at 1.
  2. Tap a tile or tab to it and press Enter. A wrong tile counts as a mistake.
  3. Medium adds a 120-second clock; Hard uses a 90-second clock and re-scatters the board every six finds.
  4. Clear every number for the best score, or keep going until the clock runs out.

Tips

  • Scan in a predictable path instead of staring at the centre.
  • On Hard, expect the reshuffle and re-scan rather than trusting your memory of the board.
  • Accuracy is worth more than a frantic finish; wrong taps lower both score and focus.

Focus Grid FAQ

What is a Focus Grid or Schulte table?

A grid of shuffled numbers that you find in order. It is a common visual-search and attention drill because it trains scanning, fixation and hand-eye coordination.

Does the timer pause if I switch tabs?

Yes. The clock only advances while the game is visible, so a hidden tab cannot burn your time. Hard mode also pauses before a reshuffle completes.

What changes on Hard?

The board is 6×6, the limit is 90 seconds, and every six correct finds the unfinished tiles are re-scattered. Completed numbers stay in place.
